Bikram Yoga Poses:- Yoga is one of the most essential things that a person should include in their daily life. In this hurry-up world, yoga helps people to remain calm and relax. It provides stability to a person in the worst situations in life. Yoga has plenty of benefits. It helps to detoxify the body’s impurities. Hot yoga is also known as Bikram Yoga. In 1970 in California, Bikram Yoga was popularized by the Bikram Choudhury. The yoga practice involves the 26 poses which have been repeated the same in set cycles over a 90 minutes class. Bikram yoga is often called hot yoga but both are different. Hot yoga is a type of yoga that is practiced in a hot room. The hot yoga room is not so hot when compared to Bikram Yoga Room. Bikram choudhury referred to these rooms as a torture chamber.
Bikram yoga has many benefits like flushing toxins from the body with the help of sweating. It is one of the yoga poses which helps in weight loss. The hot temperature helps in improving blood flow and it makes oxygen to reach the muscles tissues. So, it makes the practitioners more flexible. It helps the oxygen to release more easily from its transporter hemoglobin because of which the blood passes through warm muscles. It also speeds up the breakdown of glucose on fatty acids. It prevents injury in activities outside of yoga as the heat makes the muscles more flexible. The Bikram Yoga Poses is composed in such a manner that it makes the spines to make the normal movements again. For this, a person needs both strength and flexibility. There are many ways like a deep breath (Pranayama), awkward pose (Utkatasana), eagle pose(Garurasan), balancing stick pose(Tuladandasana), triangle pose(Trikonasana), tree pose (Tadasana), sit- up, cobra pose (bhujangasana).
Bikram Yoga Asanas
- Deep breathing – This pose is also known as pranayama. To start the Bikram yoga session, the people have to start with this pose. It will help a person to get their concentrations rapidly. First, a person has to breathe in through the nose slowly for six counts. After that exhale slowly with the mouth also for six counts.
- Awkward pose – It is the pose that is called utkatasana. This pose consists of three parts. In the first part, the lower back should be arched while keeping the feet flat on the floor. After that on the second and third parts, the spine should be straight and tall. So, that it should create a strong back and the abdominal muscles are there to support the shape. The people work on their endurance by keeping a person in the posture with the big muscles in the legs. This is the pose that opens up the hips. It also helps to strengthen the ankles, calves, feet, and shins. It also makes the muscles spine and abdominal wall strong. This posture works on people’s endurance.
- Eagle pose – It is a type of yoga pose which is the perfect posture to follow awkward poses. The people worked hard on the muscles in the arms but stretching. To stretch the shoulders which is the end of the last posture shouted from the pain. A person should twist their arms together, will help in stretching the shoulders, and also helps to push the elbows down when the person will stretch their chest, will squeeze their lymph nodes in the armpits. This pose helps to boost up the immune system. In the same manner, it will work at the bottom of the body. The people have to twist their legs which will compress their lymph nodes in the lower body. The back and the abdominal muscles become strong as in the posture, the people have to lift the chest up and they have arch backward. In this posture, a person has to balance on one foot.
- Balancing stick pose – This pose is also known as Tuladandasana. It is the one-legged balancing pose. This balancing stick pose is the shortest posture that a person practices. It is one of the most intense postures as it brings the heart rate up very quickly all the while by maintaining slow and calm breathing. It has tremendous benefits for the heart muscles because of the quick changes in the heart rate while standing still. To create the continuous stretch on the entire nervous system as the fingers are stretched as far away from the toes. In this pose, a person can build flexibility and strength in the ankles and feet.
- Triangle pose – This pose is also known as trikonasana. This posture is like a wide-legged. There are many styles of yoga that have a triangle pose, but this is one of the unique poses in yogasana. To do this pose the people have to use a lot of core muscle strength to hold the upper body in the correct position of twisting. Resisting the urge to rest a hand on the floor or an elbow on a knee. This is a type of pose which is like a hip, chest, and shoulders opener. The spines also get twisted at the same time. This pose helps in flexibility on a hip opener.
- Tree pose – This pose is also known as Tadasana. Tree pose and toe stand pose are the last standing positions before a person starts with a floor series. The people have the last opportunity to work on balancing the body on one foot. First, a person should do a tree pose to work on the flexibility of the hip, and the ankle of the legs.
- Dead body pose – This is also known as Savasana. It is one of the most important postures people practice. The people will do this pose in between every posture throughout the floor series. At least a person should do this yoga pose when they are lying on the back. It is one of the most relaxing poses. In this pose, a person has to be absolutely still so that the blood circulations happen correctly to have a little resistance. It helps a person to relax and works on the people breathing. - Sit-ups – It is a type of transition posture. A person should do it 13 times before the end of every yoga session. When the people do the sit-up there is a sharp double exhale, through the mouth. At the end of the sit-up, when touches the forehead to the knees. The exhale at the end of the sit-up when the people are folded in the half, has the benefit of sucking the abdomen. It massages the internal organs. To do the sit-ups, a person should pay more attention to the use of legs. The legs should be straight, knees should be locked and squeezed together. - Cobra pose – This pose is called bhujangasana. It is a type of back strengthening pose. In this pose, the different parts of the spines are compressed by the muscle contractions. This pose is meant to compress the lower back. In this cobra pose, it squeezes the kidneys of the people. A person who is better at stretching the legs, locking the knees, and squeezing the legs together, the more effective a person is at contracting the muscles along with the spine. It creates pressure in the right place.
- Camel pose- This pose is also known as ustrasana. It is one of the deepest backward bend poses. It is also known as ‘ the healer of the spine’. In this pose, a person tries to create an even backward bend in all parts of the spine like the lower back or the neck. This posture can make people feel dizzy. So, a person should do this pose slowly. The eyes should be focused on one point and always remember to breathe.
Bikram Yoga Poses is helpful in many ways. It makes a body to lose weight. It detoxifies the impurities from the body and makes the muscles flexible. It is very beneficial for the internal organs. But it has some potential dangers. The profuse sweating involved in the practice may lead to dehydration if a person doesn’t drink enough water. The increased flexibility van leads to danger as it can make practitioners overstretching and this may lead to strain and sprain.
